In a way that respects the natural and social environment, Exalco – similarly to system replacement – invests in green energy and sustainable development, aiming to produce 100% “green” aluminum within the next 3 years, meaning aluminum systems with zero carbon footprint. Sustainability in Practice
For nearly 50 years, Exalco has been providing high-quality aluminum systems for our homes that protect the lives within them. By expanding our environmental approach, we develop sustainable practices by creating the right conditions and infrastructure for long-term prosperity, aiming for a greener planet.
International Standard Certification
Exalco is certified according to the International Standard ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management and the International Standard ISO 50001:2018 for Energy Management. We contribute daily to energy savings, minimizing the carbon footprint, and reducing costs by promoting the sustainable use of energy.
Recycling
We recycle 100% of waste generated from primary production (in collaboration with the company “EPALME”) and secondary raw materials such as paper, plastic, and wood (in collaboration with various recycling companies). We also apply the pyrolysis process for waste management (where residual waste is delivered to the company “POLYECO”), thus contributing to improving quality of life and creating a clean environment.
Installation of Photovoltaic Systems
For the production of “green” energy, Exalco has installed photovoltaic systems on the industrial roofs of its factories and in private photovoltaic parks, generating energy for its own use. Currently, 50% of the energy consumed comes from renewable sources. Our goal is to meet 100% of our energy needs within the next 3 years (by 2024).

Energy Savings
- Exalco has internal energy consumption meters and monitors performance in electricity and natural gas usage per unit of product using KPIs and ERP and Data Analytics software.
- Over the past ten years, energy savings for electricity and natural gas have been 24% and 44% per unit of product, respectively.
- Compared to the baseline year 2019, which serves as a model for comparing energy consumption in Significant Energy Uses, the company saved 3,640 MWh in 2020 and 6,450 MWh in 2021, thus contributing to the continuous reduction of its carbon footprint.
- Exalco seeks to collaborate with suppliers who implement energy management systems.
- It purchases equipment and consumables based on their energy efficiency rating.
Environment
Water Consumption Management
- Exalco monitors the water consumption rate of its production units and achieves savings through technical projects, such as converting water-cooled systems to air-cooled systems.
- Over the past 10 years, water consumption has decreased by 30%.
Wastewater Quality
- The quality of the Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant is monitored, with no deviations from environmental standards observed in the past decade.
Compliance and Collaborations
- We comply with national and international environmental legislation, as well as the requirements of regulatory bodies (HMA, EOAN, EU Registry, E-PRTR).
- We collaborate exclusively with companies authorized for the recycling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Recycling and Waste Management
- We recycle 100% of aluminum waste generated from extrusion, which is sent to an authorized casting facility.
- We fully recycle hazardous materials (e.g., lubricants) and non-hazardous solid waste (e.g., packaging materials) through specialized companies.
- We recycle 100% of consumable electrical equipment, such as lamps and batteries.
- We provide recycling bins made from recyclable materials to maintain a clean environment.
Consumables Optimization and Supplier Collaboration
- We use advanced technology and ERP/Data Analytics software for optimal consumables planning.
- We collaborate with suppliers who are conscious of the importance of environmental protection.
- We procure consumables that are fully recyclable and/or environmentally friendly.
Pollutant Emissions Monitoring
- We monitor direct and indirect gaseous pollutant emissions (tCO2eq/year).
- Progress in emission reduction is correlated with increased production and planning optimization carried out through ERP and Data Analytics.
- We report annually on emissions and environmental quality.
